The Alexandrine Parakeet, named after Emperor Alexander the Great, is a monogamous forest bird that can survive at 3,000 feet and has a reasonably long lifespan. Males and females differ in the color of their feathers. Females have yellow feathers on the abdomen, red patches on the back of the neck, and a black-gray color on the head, while males have black and red colors on the neck.
