It's not too difficult to tell male and female parakeets apart. You can look at the color of their cere. Male parakeets have lavender or bright blue cere, while female parakeets have white or brown cere.

The Alexandrine Parakeet, named after Emperor Alexander the Great, is a monogamous forest bird that can survive at 3,000 feet and has a reasonably long lifespan. Males and females differ in the color of their feathers. Females have yellow feathers on the abdomen, red patches on the back of the neck, and a black-gray color on the head, while males have black and red colors on the neck.
